All the things that we regard as the most disembodied ideas, the things that seem to be more benevolent, are the expression of visceral desires. It’s a violent desire for domination for its own sake. A being wants to feel its own power. We feel powerful if we are inflicting our power over something. There is a fundamental cruelty in existence. The human being is essentially a being that wills, that wants to will. That lives from self empowerment.
